Pay As You Wish

You set the price. We set the standard.

This isn't charity pricing. It's an invitation to participate in the value of craft.
At Blind Origin there are no fixed prices. We made that choice deliberately — not as a gimmick, not as a workaround, but because we genuinely believe the people who buy our products are best placed to decide their value. We give you the context. You make the call.

THE PHILOSOPHY

Why we don't have
fixed prices.

We've been asked, more than once, why we don't just set a price. The honest answer: because we don't think a fixed price fully captures what a handmade, artist-designed object is worth.

Its value lives somewhere between the cost of materials, the hours of skill, the story attached to it, and what it means to the person who holds it. We'd rather have a different conversation.

"Pay What You Wish is not charity pricing. It's an invitation to participate in the value of craft."

The Process

Four steps. No catch.

01

Browse with intention

Explore the collection and find an object that speaks to you. Every piece carries original art or handcraft from a real artist.

02

See the range

Each product shows three options — Fair, Generous, and Custom. We explain exactly what each level does so you can choose with full information.

03

Choose what feels right

Enter the amount that makes sense to you. No judgment. No minimum beyond what covers shipping. No difference in what you receive.

04

That's it

Your order is confirmed and ships exactly the same as any other. The craft is identical at every price point. You chose. We deliver.

The Range

What each level actually does.

Every product at Blind Origin shows three price options. Here is exactly what each one means — for you, for the artisan, and for the model we are building together.
Fair
$49
Covers the essentials
Materials, production, and shipping. The artisan is paid. The brand sustains itself. This is a completely honoured choice — choosing Fair means you get exactly what you ordered, made to exactly the same standard.
Custom
You decide
Your number, your reasons
Some customers go further. If you want to name your own number — above, below, or anywhere between — the Custom field is there without judgment. Every amount that covers shipping is an amount that works.

Common Questions

Everything you wanted to ask

  • Can I really pay any amount?

    +

Yes. The only floor is what covers the cost of shipping — below that we physically cannot get the product to you. Above that any amount you choose works, without exception and without judgment.

  • Will I be judged for choosing the Fair price?

    +

No. Fair is called Fair because it is — to you and to us. Many customers choose it. The model is designed to work at every level and no order is ever treated differently based on the price chosen.

  • What does choosing Generous actually do?

    +

It contributes more directly to the artisan's monthly income at The Blind Academy, beyond the base costs of materials and logistics. We publish a breakdown so you can see exactly where each level goes.

  • Is Blind Origin a charity?

    +

No. Blind Origin is a brand — a commercial business that sells real products. The Blind Academy is our origin and our partner, a separate organisation. We sell products. You buy them. What makes it meaningful is what it is connected to, not how it is structured.

  • Where are the products made?

    +

Products are designed in collaboration with artists and makers trained at The Blind Academy in India. Artwork is created by the artists themselves. Crochet additions are handmade by artisans at the Academy. Products are then manufactured to our specifications and shipped internationally.

  • Do artisans get paid regardless of what I choose?

    +

Yes. Artisan income at The Blind Academy is structured independently from individual sales. Every purchase contributes to that structure but the artisan's livelihood is not contingent on your specific price choice.

  • What if I want to pay more than the Generous option?

    +

Use the Custom field and enter whatever feels right. Some customers do this. It is always noted with gratitude and goes directly toward sustaining the model and expanding artisan income.
